Swedish students in Bratislava

During April 23. to April 25. we had the chance to host a group of Swedish students who came to Bratislava for an international project between Sweden, France and Slovakia – reading club. We knew it would be a memorable event as soon as we picked them up at the Nivy bus station on Wednesday.
We greeted them with broad smiles and excitement, then we assisted them in figuring out how to use public transport to get to their hotel and to our school.
When they arrived to the hotel and settled in, we took them on a short sightseeing tour through Bratislava’s Old Town. They admired Michalska gate and, of course, took plenty of pictures with Čumil. We ended the evening with a lovely walk along the river by Eurovea, enjoying the warm weather and getting to know each other better.
The next day, Thursday, the Swedish students visited our school. We gave them a tour of the building and showed them our playground with its breathtaking view. After the tour, it was time to get to work! Together, we started working on our project – reading club. This project is the main reason why they came to Slovakia, and we talked about the importance of reading, our favorite books, and how literature can connect people from different cultures. After lunch in the school canteen, we took them to Horský park, where we enjoyed some fresh air and relaxing nature.
Friday came faster than we expected. We spent the morning finishing our project, adding some last touches. Enjoying the last moments with them, we walked through the Old Town one more time so they could buy souvenirs for their families and friends. Before saying goodbye, we took lots of group photos to remember our time together.
Although it was sad to say goodbye, we were all grateful for the time we shared. Hosting the Swedish students was an amazing experience that gave us new friendships, unforgettable memories, and a reminder of how important reading can be.
